Gauge Media Group, Inc. was developed from the vision of one auto enthusiast, President and Founder, Donald “Donnie” Babb, who has been an automotive enthusiast for nearly 30 years. Reading printed car and truck enthusiast magazines in the 1980s inspired Donnie to build his own “mini.” The build of his 1993 Mazda B2200, inspired Donnie to forge a career in the automotive industry. Donnie’s 1993 Mazda B2200, graced the cover of MiniTruckin’ in July of 1999, along with a small press release telling
the aftermarket automotive world of Donnie’s new build, www.gaugemagazine.com as the first online custom vehicle magazine. Gauge Media began in his home office, in Indianapolis, Indiana with a small loan, two computers, and no computer or Internet training.
Today Gauge Media Group, Inc, has grown to employ a team of custom automobile enthusiasts, and encompasses a family of resources for automotive enthusiasts and manufacturers alike.
Gauge Magazine offers many resources for marketers, enthusiast and manufacturers alike. Gauge Store is a one-stop online aftermarket accessory store that came about in the summer of 2000 as a source of income to support the electronic magazine when the internet was viewed as new technology, and aftermarket automotive manufacturers and distributers were skeptical at the idea of advertising online. Gauge Store also acts as a bridge between enthusiasts, small shops and manufacturers, connecting anyone interested in aftermarket accessories to the world of custom vehicles. Since 2000, Gauge Store increased sales from $10,000 annually to an anticipated $1.9 million in 2012.
Gauge Studios is a dynamic design, print, and marketing source specializing in the automotive industry. Donnie began Gauge Studios in 1999 as internal marketing for Gauge Magazine and Gauge Store as it was beginning. Acquaintances of Donnie’s within the industry saw the level of work being produced, and several quickly became Gauge Studio clients. Gauge Studios now creates graphic design and print marketing for clients including Source Interlink Media, Special Events, and several aftermarket automotive accessory manufacturers and businesses daily.
